(Mill Creek, WA) - Lorry Green and Hollie Leach of Elle Marie Hair Studio in Mill Creek, WA sharpened their professional edge and took their hair styling talent to the next level at the award-winning Redken Exchange in New York City last week. Green and Leach were two of the dedicated salon professionals who attended the “Cut & Know Why” class November 9th-12th at the Redken Exchange, the hair industry’s leading resource for higher learning that now offers fresh and exciting salon services.
The core of inspiration of the design programs offered at the Redken Exchange, “Cut & Know Why” leaves stylists with a total understanding of hair design and a new twist on their creativity. The 4-day Design Comprehensive session includes interactive, hands-on workshops in cutting, design analysis, facial form and finishing. Students of all levels explore how the elements of shape, head form and movement can allow them to create, recreate or duplicate any design. Facilitators included Redken’s Global Artistic Director of Design Chris Baran, as well as Jayson Morgan, and Francesco Ferri.
The Redken Exchange is the award-winning, leading resource for higher learning in the professional salon industry, and allowed Green and Leach to experience interactive, hands-on attention. Elle Marie Hair Studio and SO.CAP. USA Hair Extensions Join The Fight Against Breast Cancer with Pink Extensions!
(Bothell, WA) The color pink is everywhere today! It has become synonymous with showing support for breast cancer awareness. We see ribbons, bracelets and even M&M's as colorful examples of support. Now, women can wear their support around the clock with SO.CAP.USA Hair Extension’s Pink Hair For Hope program, which is taking place October 1, 2009 through October 31, 2009 at Elle Marie Hair Studio in Bothell, WA. For a $10 donation to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, anyone can wear their support by receiving a free Pink Hair Extension!
Oct. 25, 2009 - Kristin, Lorry, and Hollie offer pink hair extensions at Emory's breast cancer awareness event
“Pink Hair For Hope is an innovative way for all of us to show our support for such a wonderful and serious cause,” notes Ron Cardillo, Sr., president of SO.CAP.USA Hair Extensions. In 2008, the North American Pink Hair For Hope Program raised $480,000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. SO.CAP. USA Hair Extensions has been able to donate a total of $876,000 since 2006 thanks to the Pink Hair For Hope program. SO.CAP. USA Hair Extensions is hoping to raise over $500,000 this year and Elle Marie Hair Studio will be helping by offering these wonderful pink SO.CAP. USA hair extensions during October, 2009.
The pink hair extension graft signifies a unifying bond between women, who have undoubtedly known someone who has been touched by breast cancer in some way or another. The SO.CAP.USA pink hair extension attaches to your natural hair very close to the scalp, leaving an invisible bond. It is bonded to the hair using 100% keratin, the same protein that makes up our own natural hair, so there is no damage to the natural hair once the extension is removed.

On September 20, 2009 hundreds of cosmetologists gathered in Bellevue, Washington at the Meydenbauer Convention Center for an educational hair show called Undressed. The entire Elle Marie team was on hand to soak in all of the education being offered. Redken and Pureology, along with a few other companies, had their top educators and artistic directors on hand demonstrating the latest styles and colors sweeping the industry.
A number of classes offered our stylists new and innovative ways to assist our guests in achieving their desired look. One strategy that helps achieve a particular look is to prepare the hair by applying a product before drying, such as a “leave in” conditioner or styling cream. Shannon King of Redken impressed as she applied basic techniques with new textured looks. The inverted bob is out! If you want short, go shorter! Also this coming season will see a lot of texturing and layering in front around the face rather than in the back as has been done in the past.
Redken’s color specialist, Leah, showed different color placements that can change a person’s look from DRAB to FAB-U-LOUS! One technique that really stood out to Ally was the “hot roots” affect. Ally has been coloring her hair dark for years; wanting something new and fashionable without damaging her long locks. Leah showed us how to take our Redken fashion color line and make a subtle change into something dramatic and fresh. Ally applied this technique to herself and loves her new look!
