Pink Hair For Hope

Salon offering pink hair for breast cancer awareness

BOTHELL, Wash. - Pink ribbons are symbols of breast cancer support. The color is on everything from bracelets to candy, and now hair. One Bothell hair salon has an interesting idea to put pink on your head.

Elle Marie Hair Studio in Bothell is going pink for the second year in a row. The salon is offering pink hair extensions in support of breast cancer awareness month.

"This has affected me personally," said Hollie Leach, stylist. "In 1991, my mother had breast cancer and I was with her through that."

Mothers, daughters, friends and neighbors - breast cancer has devastated families but hope can come in all places, even a hair salon. It's simple. For ten dollars you can have a pink hair extension attached to your head.

"I have friends who passed away from breast cancer - very difficult, long, painful battle. We were there for her, but if we can raise money and get a cure, the faster the better," said Shelly Beck, participant.

It's not just about pink hair. It's also about awareness. In the stylist's chair, women can share information and support.

"It allows us the opportunity and easy opportunity to provide women with their way of getting involved and getting unified with other women that have been touched by cancer," said Colleen Buck, salon owner.
