Who inspires me: Positive, goal oriented people inspire me. People who believe in something with their whole heart and push themselves to be better everyday. There are times I get comfortable and don’t want to push myself out of my comfort zone. But when I surround myself with people who embrace change, it reminds me how much better I can be and how much I can grow in anything I put my mind to. My mom has been a hair stylist for over 30 years. And now she’s teaching at a Hair Academy in California. Watching her learn and grow in this industry throughout the years has proven to me that it’s a lasting career and I can love what I do as much as she does.

Passion for the Industry: Growing up in California, my parents owned a couple of salons and did hair side by side for years. My brother and I grew up spending most of our time in the break room at their salon and if we weren’t contained to the back room, we were building relationships with all the guests that came through the door. I used to swear I’d never be in the hair industry because that was my “parent’s thing”, but after growing up and realizing my passions and gifts were not in Marine biology or Mathematics, I decided it was ok to be a chip off the ol’ block. :-) I’ve been a hair stylist now for 3 years and I love, love, love it! (I guess my parents were cool after all.)

Professional Development: I graduated from Northwest Hair Academy, A Paul Mitchell Partner School. After graduating, I was blessed to join the Elle Marie Team. During my time with Elle Marie I’ve become a certified Pureologist, I went to the Redken Exchange in NYC for a 3 day class called “Coloring out of your mind” in 2010, and our whole salon has continued education courses in Redken, Pureology and Sexy Hair.

Hobbies: When I’m not rockin’ out behind the chair, I rock out on stage. I love to sing every chance I get. I have the privilege of doing studio musician work for Seattle artists that need background vocals for their albums, and I get to lead worship at Gold Creek Community Church on Sundays. I may break out in a song while I’m blow drying your hair. Just kidding. :-)
