Disaster Recovery Fund for Mudslide Relief

UPDATE 6/19/2014 – Thank you to all of our guests who helped raise money for the Disaster Recovery Fund for Mudslide Relieforganized by the United Way of Snohomish County. The outpouring of support was overwhelming. We began accepting donations just days after news of the mudslide emerged in March and continued collecting funds through the end of April. On Wednesday, June 18th, 2014, owners Lorry Green and Jody Bossert met with United Way of Snohomish County’s Vice President of Resource Development, Karen Crowley to deliver 100% of the donations in the form of three separate checks – one from each salon.

Checks were distributed in the following amounts:

  • Alderwood: $1,054.01
  • Lake Stevens: $450
  • Mill Creek: $840

Upon delivering the checks, Crowley confirmed that 100% of the $2,344.01 donated will be used to create hope and renewal for the families and communities touched by the events of March 22. The United Way is transparent in their distribution of funds which you can review at http://www.uwsc.org/recoveryfunddollars.php. To date, $2,472,635.81 has been raised with $1,285,750 having been distributed thus far.

3/26/14 – As news of the #530slide unfolded these past few days, the magnitude of the event finally came into focus for us last night. Within seconds of each other, two of our owners coincidentally posted messages to our private staff Facebook group asking what Elle Marie could do to help. Our team was obviously all on the same page as the posts sparked a ton of comments from our stylists eager to do something! Stories even emerged out of our Lake Stevens location about guests who have been affected at the most extreme level. There may be very little we can truly do to ease the pain of the devastation, but it’s important that we try.

To show our support, Elle Marie is now offering FREE Redken Chemistry System treatments ($20 value) for a suggested $15 donation. 100% of the money raised will be donated to the United Way of Snohomish County’s Disaster Recovery Fund for Mudslide Relief. For those who simply wish to make a donation without the treatment, we will gladly accommodate that as well.
