Elle Marie Hair Studio and SO.CAP. USA Hair Extensions join the fight against breast cancer with pink hair extensions!
The color pink is everywhere today! It has become synonymous with showing support for breast cancer awareness. We see ribbons, bracelets and even M&M’s as colorful examples of support. Now, women can wear their support around the clock with SO.CAP.USA Hair Extension’s Pink Hair For Hope program, which is taking place September 1, 2010 through October 31, 2010 at Elle Marie Hair Studio’s salons in Mill Creek and Lake Stevens. For a $10 donation, anyone can wear their support by receiving a free Pink Hair Extension! Proceeds will be allocated to both the National Breast Cancer Foundation and the American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer”walk.
“Pink Hair For Hope is an innovative way for all of us to show our support for such a wonderful and serious cause,” notes Ron Cardillo, Sr., president of SO.CAP.USA Hair Extensions. In 2009, the North American Pink Hair For Hope Program raised $483,000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. SO.CAP. USA Hair Extensions has been able to donate over 1.3 million over the past four years thanks to the Pink Hair For Hope program. SO.CAP. USA Hair Extensions is hoping to raise over $500,000 this year and Elle Marie Hair Studio will be helping by offering these wonderful pink SO.CAP. USA hair extensions during September and October, 2010.
Elle Marie Hair Studio has been involved in the Pink Hair for Hope program since 2007 and is proud to have donated more than $12,000 to the cause. The salon is very focused on raising awareness for breast cancer. In addition to their involvement with Pink Hair for Hope, you can also find them donating $10 buzz cuts annually at the Everett Aquasox’s Pink at the Park Day for the Mary Kay Foundation. They are also sponsoring an 8-person team in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure walk September 24-26 in Seattle. This year’s walk passes near Elle Marie’s Mill Creek location on Friday the 24th and numerous participants have been visiting the salon for pink hair extensions recently.
The pink hair extension graft signifies a unifying bond between women, who have undoubtedly known someone who has been touched by breast cancer in some way or another. The SO.CAP.USA pink hair extension attaches to your natural hair very close to the scalp, leaving an invisible bond. It is bonded to the hair using 100% keratin, the same protein that makes up our own natural hair, so there is no damage to the natural hair once the extension is removed.
According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States, other than skin cancer. It is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, after lung cancer. The chance of a woman having invasive breast cancer sometime during her life is a little less than 1 in 8. The chance of dying from breast cancer is about 1 in 35. Breast cancer death rates have been going down. This is probably the result of finding the cancer earlier and better treatment. Right now there are more than 2½ million breast cancer survivors in the United States. About 207,090 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in 2010. About 54,010 new cases of carcinoma in situ (CIS) will be found (CIS is non-invasive and is the earliest form of breast cancer). Sadly, breast cancer will claim the lives of about 39,840 women this year.
