Elle Marie Styles Hair Backstage at 2013 Miss Seattle Pageant

We were honored to be asked to help with hair backstage at the 2013 Miss Seafair Scholarship Pageant. On Sunday, March 10th I escorted Tiffany (Mill Creek), Leah (Lake Stevens) and Betty (Mill Creek) to the IKEA Performing Arts Center in Renton where 10 beautiful and talented ladies took the stage in hopes of becoming the next Miss Seattle.

While our ladies worked their hair magic in the dressing room, I took the opportunity to sit in the empty auditorium and watch each of the contestants warm up for the talent portion of the competition. I won’t lie, this was a fun opportunity for me. While all of the performances were amazing, I felt like I had an inside track to who would do best in that portion of the competition. My early favorite was Allison Hopkins whose voice absolutely blew me away. Amanda Anderson sounded great as well and had amazing stage presence. Angelica Casimiro was also impressive as she turned the stage into her personal dance floor.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we were only able to stay through half of the interview questions just after intermission before we had to head back north to Mill Creek. We all had our favorites and eagerly checked in online to see who had been crowned. Finally, the Miss Seattle Facebook Page announced the winner, Delia Lubanovici.

Miss Lubanovici performed All That Jazz from the Broadway Musical Chicago. While her presence was sassy and confident, vocally I thought she did slightly better in warm ups (I have a background in vocal performance myself so I have a pretty good idea what to look for). She still sang quite well during the pageant, but what really helped nail her performance I think was her gorgeous black gown and jewelry. She looked phenomenal and truly owned the stage.

All in all it was a wonderful experience and we were extremely impressed with all the contestants. We are especially excited for Delia and believe she will be a wonderful ambassador for the city of Seattle!
