Vivid hair colors are no longer just for punk rockers. From subtle rose gold tones to funky rainbows, requests for these looks are on the rise.
These colors are fun to rock, but it is important to know they are just like a high maintenance girlfriend and require much care.
Before you get started you will need to pre-lighten your hair to at least a pale yellow so your vivid colors will POP. During the pre-lightening service and after care, you may also need protein or moisture treatments to maintain the integrity of your hair.
To maintain your new color’s vibrancy, I suggest using cold water to wash your hair. This will prevent the cuticle from opening which will cause the color to “fall out.” You will also need to use a color safe shampoo and conditioner to prevent fading. Dry shampoo is great between showers since the more often you wash your hair, the more it will fade. I also recommend you avoid heat styling as that will also open the cuticle. Finally, NO SWIMMING! Chlorine and salt will strip and dehydrate your hair.
