Today Sam Villa’s highly anticipated CutOuts DVD went on sale. It’s the fifth educational DVD in his Aspire Tour collection and was shot at Elle Marie Hair Studio in Mill Creek, WA. The video has a classroom approach and features the entire Elle Marie styling team.
The video is billed as your inspiration for cutting fine hair. Sam identifies that 60% of North American women have fine hair so this DVD is a must for all stylist’s DVD libraries here in our country.
Sam Villa is Redken’s Education Artistic Director and Chairman of his own digital media and styling tools company. He is highly regarded throughout the hair industry having received numerous awards including BehindTheChair.com’s Favorite Platform Artist and Educator – an award he first received in 2007, then recaptured just the other day here in 2011.
Elle Marie’s Mill Creek hair salon was closed on Friday, December 3, 2010 for the video shoot. To tackle the challenges of shooting in a salon with so much natural light, the production crew elected to completely cover the outside of the windows in black visqueen and give the video a unique nighttime feel. Sam spent the first half of the day speaking to the class from the front of the room, then finished up the day working hands-on with the stylists at various stations where he was able to offer more individualized instruction.
It was such an amazing day that resulted in so much quality footage that the producers elected to release it as the first 2-DVD set in the Aspire Tour collection. It retails for $59.95 and can be purchased through Sam Villa’s website.
Sam has released a number of short teasers from the video in the “Hot Tips” section of his website, but until we get our hands on a copy, that’s all we’ve seen to this point. We can’t wait to see the final full DVD!
